Our mother Ella Sykes (nee Andrews) 1916 -1959 had an original of this photo (which I now have). Always believed she was the taller girl on right, back row at around 6 years old. Can anyone confirm who this girl is please?. If I am correct, it would make the photo taken about 1922. Signed: Lorna Wilson (nee Sykes).

Does anyone know the names of the people in the photo - I'm guessing the elderly man is Francis Albert Wall? If you know that would be great neild@comcen.com.au

If the photo contains Alex Gordon, then the date is wrong. Alex returned to Australia in September 1919. The Advertiser,14/11/19 p2,states a welcome home was held at Balmattum on friday 7th November for "Sergt Pezet, Walker and Driver Gordon, who had recently returned from overseas." ...

The photo was taken prior to WW1. It was not a welcome home. Seated, in the centre is Leslie Maygar VC, to his right, at the end of the seat, is George Fay. Both men were killed during the war. The photo was taken at a military ball held in the Euroa public hall. A number of military balls were held prior to WW1. This ball was most likely held 0n Tuesday May 30th. There is a report about the ball in the Advertiser 2/6/11 p 2. It states the hall was "decorated by means of ferns, evergreens, flags and war symbols.
